A Dusky Masquerade

G'morning Bloggerettes! I have the immense pleasure of laying on my couch watching my favorite movie 'Tangled' because I'm sick. Yay...not, lol.  Todays mani features Barry M Dusky Mauve, a dark purple with pink shimmer, and Picture Polish Masquerade, a duochome micro glitter rainbow dream.

2 coats Barry M Dusky Mauve, no top coat. Look at that shimma!

Look at dem angles! The glitter shifts at every twist and turn, love it. I began with 1 coat CND Stickey, 2 coats Barry M Dusky Mauve, 1 coat Picture Polish Masquerade, and 1 thick coat of Seche Vite. Masquerade is a nice dense well balanced glitter, perfect for layering. However I noticed Dusky Mauve gave more of a brown appearance once coated with Masquerade, but still gorgeous. Now I'm off to a big bowl of ice cream to soothe my ever so sore throat!

Thanks for looking!

Splattered Lizard

Remember my tape mani I did with a group of ladies? Well today we're all doing 'Splatterday', a series of splatter manis! I love doing a group project because you get to see so many looks with the same basic concept.

My completed splatter mani.

Here's a fun fact, I am absolutely terrified of lizards. All shapes, sizes, breeds...terrified. I have absolutely no idea why either, lol. So when the new OPI Spiderman collection came out and I saw Just Spotted the Lizard, the Chanel Peridot dupe, I was like crap. HAHA! It really is a beautiful color and has easily made its way into my top 5 favorite polishes to date but come on OPI....change the name for little ol' me, lol. I started my mani off with CND Stickey, 3 coats of polish with the terrifying name, and a coat of Seche Vite. I did a top coat because this was my first splatter mani ever and I knew I was bound to mess it up.

The last shot is my nails underwater to show off that sweet gold, blue, green duochome. Amazing, right!?! Almost makes up for that God awful name!
Polish with terrifying name, Pink Friday, Strawberry Fields, Flying Dragon. Tools for a pretty sweet splatter.

I am so so so in love with my splatter! After having a heck of a time trying to make a 'pretty splatter' I finally found the perfect system for me. I used a normal straw you get in a pack at the grocery store and bent up the end. Then I got a piece of cardboard and did a few drops of polish on there and brushed some on my straw. This was the only way I had any splatter come off my straw. Trust me I did a few other ways before I found my solution. Now I am so excited to show off the other girls looks! Here's our InLinks.

Franken: Snu Snu

Ozotic and indie brand Dollish Polish have made beautiful duochrome holographic polishes. Unfortunately Ozotic is pretty expensive and Toxic Avenger by DP has been out for a bit. So to cure my insatiable need for this glorious combination I got to work on my own franken. Here's Snu Snu. (Bonus points if you know what Snu Snu is!)

As always I can never good a good representation of the duochrome. Snu Snu is a linear holographic that flashes green, pink, and purple(the bottle shot shows a good example of this). I gave her some underwear in the form of Essie Merino Cool, a dark taupe. She's pretty opaque but I felt the underwear was necessary. And so my thirst for now has been quenched. What do you think of my franken?

Black Tie

Sally Hansen recently updated their collections and the Diamond Strength bottle design. The new colors are lovely but the only one I have picked up so far is Black Tie. Black Tie is an awesome black duochrome that shines blue, purple, green, and pink. The duochrome is obviously more visible in the bottle than on the nail. Despite that the color is still pretty awesome!

I couldn't get a decent picture of the color changing magic to save my life. But boy did wearing it convince others to buy the polish at work! Sally Hansen Diamond Strength retails for $4.99 at Walgreens.

Zombri being her hot skeptical self.

Hidden Treasure

Most know Sally Hansen previously released Hidden Treasure as a gorgeous flakie in their Complete Salon Manicure line that has since been duped by many. I guess in an appeal to confuse people still looking for the original they decided to rerelease it. But here's the catch, instead of a flakie you will now find a pink/green/lavender duochrome. The new Hidden Treasure is pretty under bright light and sunlight but without it it looks like a dull frosty white. The formula was awful, too thin and took forever to dry. I had bubbles and smudges after an hour of dry time. This is three coats with no 'underwear'.

This was the hardest polish to photograph, my goodness! I hope you don't mind my contrasting a bit to show off the duochrome and little sparkles. I can honestly say I hate this polish, it was not a necessary part of my collection. The Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure line retails for $7.99 at Walgreens.

You feed me orchids to give me courage...

Hello there bloggerettes! Today, long overdue, I bring to you Sally Hansen Nail Prisms in Burgundy Orchid! She is a beautiful duochrome featuring red, purple, and gold. The gold aspect is hard to photograph while the base is mostly purple that shines red. I was able to purchase Burgundy Orchid on Amazon via seller 'cassiecosmetics' for $9 plus $4 shipping. I couldn't have asked for a better experience, the shipping was very fast and it was wrapped nicely in a cute little bag. As a little side note I had to do some light editing to my middle finger as I had 'battle wounds' from tying hundreds of balloons for an event at work, lol.

Application was perfect and unlike most duochromes this did not need underwear just 3 thin coats and a layer of Seche Vite. I did this pretty fast while babysitting my brothers uber cute puppies so I apologize for my messy cuticles. It was a beautiful sunny but chilly day which made Zombri and myself very happy. I'd like to thank everyone for continuing to follow my little blog throughout this busy time and once the holidays have passed I am definitely working on a giveaway so please bare with me!

Franken Kimmaye

Hey there blogerettes! I am alive and well just uber busy! And just my luck all my photo programs have been acting lame so I had to download Gimp. One of my biggest lemmings is Rescue Beauty Lounge Scrangie inspired by one of my favorite bloggers Scrangie. Scrangie is a beautiful duochrome based off the wings of a beetle. Of course this beauty has been pretty hard to find so I turned to frankening to see if I could dupe it. My pictures make Kimmaye look blue but it is definitely more blurple with green/teal shimmer. Kimmaye still wasn't a dupe so I added a layer of Zoya Adina to see if that would help. Unfortunely this one was a fail at duping but still pretty.
 Just Kimmaye.
With one layer of Zoya Adina, the last picture is from my cell phone.

My application of Adina was a little messy but c'est la vie. Shortly after this I picked up a new bottle of Seche Vite since my old bottle started to bubble my mani's. I am pretty persistent so I will keep trying to make a dupe unless I somehow get my very own bottle of Scrangie. I'll keep you posted! ;)
Fat bottom grrl.
